We call this playable realism.” The game features “an advanced ballistics system, full-body awareness, vehicle physics, and extensive customization.

In scenarios, instead of representing the war with the color of the nation that declared the war, I think that the wars map mode should show the combat efficiency as a color from red (1) to green (6) for each nation that is at war, sort of like the income map mode.
It is foremost a strong emphasis on team cooperation within the national military forces, full body awareness, and extensive, versatile customization. Perhaps with the exception of Pong and Pac-Man, few video games hold the same notoriety as Tetris. Originally conceived, designed and developed by Soviet software engineer Alexey Pajitnov for the Electronika 60 computer, the puzzle game was thrust into the mainstream by Nintendo in 1989, whose take on the tile-matcher for its NES and Game Boy systems marked the game’s first-ever outings on console. In practice, it’s beautifully simple and progressively challenging, as you’re tasked with fitting a series of falling shapes together, wiping full lines clear while avoiding filling your screen. The enduring success of Tetris has seen it become the most ported game of all time, while the Game Boy’s take on Russian folk song ‘Korobeiniki’ is today one of the most recognisable video game theme tunes ever composed.
There was a time when a great video game just needed to be fun. In the days before 4K screens and season passes, it was all that mattered. It didn’t matter if the design was janky, if you could finish the whole thing in one sitting, and frankly, if it was way too hard.

Academy Award-winning director, Guillermo del Toro, hailed Team Ico’s game as a “masterpiece” and an influence on his twisted directorial craft.
Hollow Knight has a plethora of memorable boss encounters, from the three-against-one Mantis Lords fight to the daunting Colosseum of Fools arena. Figuring out how to reach those moments, while slowly growing familiar with each biome to the point of memorization, is as thrilling as overcoming the challenges awaiting at your destination. Its success as a 2D exploration game that rivals the likes of Metroid and Castlevania in scope, with over 2.8 million copies sold by 2019, has served as a testament to other independent developers that small teams can and should believe in ambitious ideas. -D.A.
